# Changing User Passwords

SureDrop user passwords can be changed by the System Administrator or by the individual user.

Local users who have forgotten their password can reset it by clicking the “Forgot Password” link on the login page and they will then be prompted to reset their password.

Federated users need to change their passwords through their configured identity provider.

Click on the *Edit User Profile* button.

This displays the  the **Edit User Profile** dialog.

When you do this you can select the *Change Password* button:

The following dialogs are displayed to allow entry and submission of the old and new passwords.

Enter the text for your new password and then confirm it by typing it in again in.

The coloured bar below the text fields gives a visual indication of the strength of your password. A strong password will turn the bars green.

Click the *Reset* button to store the changed password details. A notification will be displayed if this has been successful.
